![]() ![]() A folktale is a representation of oral traditions and expressions. The present study is part of a movement to safeguard Malay folktales as an unsung intangible cultural heritage (ICH). Adaption to the new normal and transformational opportunities were recommended by interviewees as influential strategies extracted from crisis lessons learned. The profound structural and transformational changes to this system necessitate the call for a uniform, co-evolving responses from multiple events, tourism, sport, and associated management/industrial sectors. The data revealed that understanding the full effects of the pandemic depends on how sufficiently Iranian stakeholders acquired knowledge of the virus and the scope of its outcomes on the layered event and tourism system. The findings revealed that COVID-19 was a complex external crisis which significantly fuelled other internal crises, impacting the complex event and tourism system. To characterize how managers in this space evaluated the impacts of the pandemic and the associated response system(s) and learning stories, in-depth interviews with N=24 senior event and tourism managers in Iran were conducted. To date, both countries are primarily orienting the climate transition toward reducing emissions instead of combining these measures with multifunctional NBS to address environmental and socioeconomic challenges.ĬOVID-19 has impacted the events, tourism, and hospitality industries throughout most parts of the world, prompting the need for empirical work to explore the perspectives and responses of industry stakeholders towards the pandemic. Notwithstanding, Italy invests 330 M in the implementation of urban forests, while in Portugal, no specific NBS interventions have been considered so far. Narratives are mainly built around general concepts such as resilience and sustainability with nature scarcely considered as an ex novo solution to meet challenges. The results show that NBS are barely mentioned, with a frequency in the texts for the NBS category of 0.04% and 0.01%, respectively, in Italian and Portuguese RRPs. We conducted a discourse analysis based on two steps, (i) a quantitative analysis to classify different nature-related terms into four categories-biophysical elements, general environmental concepts, threats and challenges, and NBS-and estimate their frequency in the text (ii) a qualitative analysis to understand the relationship between the categories of challenges and NBS as well as the dedicated investments. This article assesses the NBS embeddedness in the policy discourse of Italian and Portuguese RRPs and how they are considered to meet climate-and related environmental-targets. Accordingly, RRPs offer the opportunity to promote the adoption of NBS. Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) are recognized as crucial drivers to fostering climate transition while addressing other challenges. The findings are crucial to understand the obstacles faced by our learners in grasping with online learning, and with this understanding several practical steps can be taken to overcome the said issues.Įuropean countries recently prepared recovery and resilience plans (RRPs) to recover from the pandemic crisis and reach climate neutrality. Among the challenges they faced were lack of physical touch, solitary learning, and issues with technological aspects. The findings show that the students had a positive presumption about online learning initially but was struck with the harsh realities of online learning afterwards. Data was then analysed using a thematic analysis using qualitative data analysis software Atlas-ti. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, all interviews were conducted using several online platforms. ![]() Data were collected through essay and semi-structured interviews. The research design of the current study is a case study involving seven tertiary students who were enrolled in English language degree in a public university in Malaysia. This paper explores the experiences of several tertiary students’ online learning experiences with two objectives: discovering their initial expectations towards online learning as well as investigating the challenges encountered by the students in online learning. The education sector suddenly shifted from face-to-face and blended learning classes to full online class. As the pandemic spreads globally, with little signs for improvement, the world has made adjustments to live with the virus. In 2020 the world was shaken by COVID-19 pandemic that technically changed the way the world works in almost all domains from business, governance, education, and lifestyles. ![]()
